May 2017 Real Estate Market Update for Ascension & East Baton Rouge Parishes

Ascension Parish saw 15 less homes sold in May than April. The numbers show that to be a 2% decline but I feel like that’s pretty steady.  The Median Sales Price held pretty steady with only a 2% decline and homes are still flying off the shelf with only 17 days on the market. It is truly a seller’s market with such a low inventory and homes selling for nearly 100% of asking price. There are only 398 homes available as of today!

East Baton Rouge Parish saw a 20% (64 unit) increase in sales volume in May of 2017. The largest increase was in the $150,000-$250,000 price range. The Median Sales Price held steady with homes only staying on the market for only 11 days! East Baton Rouge is also seeing a strong seller’s market like Asension Parish with a low inventory and seller’s getting 98.6% of their asking price. As of today there are only 831 homes on the market!

It is certainly a great time to sell if you have been thinking about it!
