It’s Girl Scout Cookie time! I know this because lots of the little girls I know have been updating on their Mother’s Facebook Status letting me know that they were accepting pre-orders for their heavenly little treasures. Tonight we had our first door knocker peddling her yummy goodness. All this talk about cookies made me think about searching for a Girl Scout Cookie page on Facebook. I found it! http://www.facebook.com/GirlScoutCookies Immediately I see a box that says “Go To App”… Well, I had to see what that was all about! You know those apps that let you send hugs and such? You can now send virtual Girl Scout Cookies to your friends Facebook wall! What??? How cool is that…or not. Talk about testing my will-power! If my friends send me Thin Mint and Samoas online all day, I will never be able to resist these little heavenly treats! ps. I have already sent cookies to a few of my friends via Facebook

Being curious after I saw that, I immediately picked up my iPhone. Guess what?! There’s an app for that! Seriously! There is a Girl Scout Cookie app! It’s a free app and you can locate cookies, learn about the cookies and even learn your cookie personality! Apparently, I am popular, strong and confident!

The Girl Scouts are doing a good job with their online presence. Here are some other places to find the Girl Scouts online:

Twitter: http://twitter.com/girlscouts

Flickr:http://www.flickr.com/groups/officialgirlscoutcookies/

YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/girlscoutcookiesale

On their webpage http://girlscoutcookies.org/ you can enter your zip code and they will help you place an order online!

When a Girl Scout approaches you to buy cookies, I ask you to help support her troop. They work really hard at this. If you don’t want cookies for yourself, they are also taking orders to send to the troops. Donate $3.50 to send a box of cookies to a military person fighting for our freedom.

Today, I woke with a sense of gratitude. Gratitude for all of the Veteran’s that have sacrificed so much for me. Without these men and women, I would not be able to sit here and enjoy the laughter of my children while they are getting ready for school, kiss my husband goodbye as he leaves for a job that he loves, or help a young couple find their first home. Think of all the small everyday tasks that we enjoy.

We get to experience these moments because a Veteran fought for our freedom.

I ask you this… Next time you see a Veteran, shake their hand, say thank you, buy them a cup of coffee. A small gesture of kindness is just a drop in the bucket for what they have done for us. With that being said, I think I will make my way to the local donut shop to buy a round of coffee and donuts for the gentlemen that I know hang out there in the morning.

Happy Veteran’s Day to all who have served and fought for our freedom. Thank you!

The other night I was really craving something sweet. After fumbling around in the kitchen not finding anything that looked good, I decided to bake. I had a few bananas that were just right for baking some banana bread. One problem, I wasn’t excited about the usual whole wheat, very healthy banana muffins I usually make. I wanted something CHOCOLATE! I got on the web and found a few Chocolate Chip Banana muffin recipes. I decided to take a little from here, a little from there and tweak it to my liking. I did try to keep them semi-healthy! This is what I came up with.

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 cup Splenda for Baking

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 egg

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1 5oz container of Greek Yogurt (vanilla)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 mashed ripe bananas

3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips

In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. In another bowl, combine the egg, oil, yogurt and vanilla. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Fold in bananas and chocolate chips. Fill greased or paper-lined mini muffin cups two-thirds full. Bake at 350 degrees F for 15-17 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks.

I will definitely be making these again! They were a hit with the girls!

I will be following the #Twitterqueens travels to Philly today! @HeyAmarettohas already made it to Delaware where @MayaREGuru has picked her up. @LesleyLambert is on her way now too! I am following many other #Twitterqueens as they travel too. There are too many to mention!

I have cleared my schedule for tomorrow morning so that I can watch the live stream on-line provided by @Dakno! (Have a closing in the afternoon… Can’t miss that!) I also have already set up a special column on Tweet Deck so that I can follow all the excitement tweeted during #REBCPHL!

#Twitterqueens and all my other friends, travel safe and I will be there with you – online! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me and we will have a drink together tomorrow evening! How I love the power of technology and social media

This program has partnered up with a plastic surgeon at UCLA. They are providing surgeries to reconstruct the faces of these soldiers. Surgeries that may not otherwise be available to them.

On this Memorial Day, I would like to ask you to please take a moment to read about Operation Mend. This is a wonderful program that has been established to help our brave men and women regain their confidence to face the world again.

Thank you to all of those who are making sacrifices to keep our freedom.
